Audition Tips To Improve Quickly in Dance
Hello Rafaela,
Thank you for contacting me, it is a pleasure to hear from you.
In terms of physical ability and technique, I would not worry yourself with these aspects at this point in time. With just a a few days, a week or even within a month it would be very difficult to suddenly improve your technical ability.
It takes years of dedicated training to build the strength to enable you to improve, so I would not stress yourself out with trying to improve a vast amount within the short space of a week.
You can do pilates which is a great way to engage your core strength and use the right muscles for ballet. This would be good exercise to help you improve, but in general there is not many exercises that can do to dancers improve quickly.
To progress you need strength which takes a lot of time and patience to see results. The most effective exercises to improve need to be done on a regular basis to build up this strength.
However, what you can definitely do not is mentally prepare yourself for the audition. Any mental preparation will be very worthwhile to get you in a positive frame of mind so that you don't let your nerves inhibit your dancing. Firstly, read again the Seven Secrets, on the 'Seven Secrets of Ballet' page. If you can grasp these secrets then, I can assure you, it will make a positively big difference to your whole approach to ballet.
Enjoy the audition and do it for yourself. People like to watch dancers who love what they do so relax and smile, let everyone see what passion you have for dancing.
Do not worry too much about your current level, as in auditions for professional schools the teachers and directors are always looking for potential dancers and possible students to train.
Therefore, they are not looking for perfect dancers or the final product but someone who they can mold into a potential dancer!
Good luck and take a look at my audition tips page to get more guidance.
Best Wishes,
Odette
