Ballet Dancers - My Dreams With Ballet

Dear Odette,
I am a girl who is 11 years old with wild dreams to learn ballet, I know it certainly is a hard journey but where should I begin. I have not gone to a single ballet class nor have i had any trainer. It is my passion to learn ballet I have the will power. It isn't possible for me to go to classes as I have no ballet center in my town. I do no have pointe shoes or slippers but I am looking forward to buy them .Please help me Odette because I practice all day with no success. Reply Soon.

Thank you for getting in touch with me, it is always a pleasure to hear from you. I am uplifted to hear your passion and dreams of ballet, this is something you must always hold onto especially when you are able to take more classes in ballet.

Ballet has a very specific way of teaching that you must have proper help in order to understand the technique and master the way of dancing. You really do need have a teacher and ballet classes in order to pursue your dream, it would be very hard to do it all yourself.

Of course though, you can research and learn as much as you can about ballet so that you fill your knowledge with everything you want to know about ballet. You can watch videos, read books and see photographs to keep you inspired.

You definitely need to begin with having your first ballet class. Even if it is just one class to get you started, then you can do your best to remember the corrections and have more success when practicing on your own.

It may take some time to get pointe shoes, because you need to understand the basics of ballet first but you are still very young so do not worry. If you are eager to learn about pointe shoes, then be one step ahead and you watch this pre-pointe video. The Australian ballet dancer, Lisa Howell has made a video here which explains how pre-point strengthening works.
