Hi Hannah,
Thanks for your message, it's great to hear from you. Most of the ballet dancers in my class started pointe around your age at my vocational ballet school. I got my pointe shoes around aged 11 and it was my ballet teacher who guided me towards this stage. It will be the same for you too, so it's a good idea to chat to your teacher and ask if you are ready for pointe. Since you have only just started dancing again, you might just need some time to get back into it and strengthen your feet before pointe work.
There is a great page on my website here which will give you more detail to whether you are ready for pointe -
Pointe Shoes - Are you Ready?
Right now, focus on your demi-pointe work which is a really important part to get strong before you start pointe. You can get a theraband (also known as resistance band) which is a good idea to strengthen your feet, you can see the exercise examples on my
phsyical therapy equipment page.
So, your first step is to ask your teacher and communicate with her to say you're interested in starting pointe.
Good luck and keep in touch!
Best wishes,
Odette
