Ballet Pointe Shoes - Straight to the Pointe

Sitting out side the studio I was a nervous wreck. I am 13 and being in ballet 2 with 7 and 8 year olds. I know that if I want art school though ballet is required, so I have to suck it up and dance. The doors open and the class was called, my younger sister pulls at my arm to go in, and I want to cry. She has been dancing since she was 3 and I don't want to be embarrassed by someone that doesn't even come up to my belly button.

Once in the room the teacher starts evaluations and has us go into first position, lucky for my I watched enough classes to know what this was. She walked in front of me and stopped, gently adjusted my shoulders and arms and asked why I wasn't in her advanced class. I had to explain I never danced before.

After a private audition and a few months of training I was placed en pointe. I danced with the Russian ballet in a production of the nutcracker after 3 months, and here a year later I am with the senior company dancing a duet on pointe and again I performed with the Russian ballet. I was told I have a natural turn out and I guess a natural pointe. Dance is now my life and I dance 5 nights a week. I stretch every night of the week and am going to be going to school for dance now instead of art. Who would have known ballet lived in me. My heart is dance and dance is my heart.
