Career developmen plan - Is my plan enough to become a professional ballet dancer?
Hello I am 12 years old and love dance more then my life. But I don't take intense dance classes such as people i know. I only take 3 hours a week but practice 24/7 at home. I want to take more but that's all I really can do at my studio i'm at. But there is an other studio that trains dancers to be pro but my studio is like a family and the owner is my moms friend. I don't know if I would be able to switch. I also have switched studios before from a baby studio at age 5 to a studio that most students left from unprofessional teacher and decreased in skill more then increased. Now i'm in the studio I talked about before. I realize i'm a little all over the place but all I really need is guidance to make my dream come true even if odds are against me thank you!

Hi Syd,
Thanks for contacting me, it's great to hear from you. Soon, I am releasing the ultimate guidebook to become a professional which will be so helpful for you. I am excited myself to be able to give such exclusive advice, but it is still in working progress so please do keep in touch!
My advice for the moment, is to explore your options with ballet studios. If you are striving to become a professional and you have your family's support, then you need to make sure you are in the right place to make that happen.
You are only 12, and still so young! Don't worry, you have time to take action and follow the steps to become a dancer. It's not easy though, and there will be times you feel like it's not possible for you.
I am sure your current studio would understand your choice to switch if you are looking for more training. Even if it is a close friend, look for their support I'm the choices you are making.
So, explore your area and reflect on: are there more serious ballet studios? Will my family allow me to switch places? Could I strive to audition for a vocational dance school?
Have a think and get back to me.
Best wishes,
Odette
